Something Cute

A dad bald eagle brings mum a fish while she's sitting on the nest. I thought after the past few days everyone could use a cute eagle video to watch.

Shibe vs. Roomba

Found this hilarious little video while looking for something completely unrelated on Youtube, and just had to share it. The puppy's reactions are hilarious, from "oooh, what's this?" to "HOLY SHIT IT'S COMING RIGHT AT ME!"

We Are Amused

Most of you know by now that I live with my parents. It has its advantages: I no longer have to live in the dorms, I can eat what I want, I'm a lot healthier than I was when I lived at university, and my migraine problems are almost completely gone. I have a job, something I wouldn't have been able to have if I was still living on campus. Unfortunately, it also comes with a few downsides- namely, that my parents know pretty much everything I do and like to lecture me on it, despite the fact that I'm a grown-ass adult and can make my own decisions. Case in point- in December I went to visit a friend in the next city over, and while I was there, my car broke down, something I didn't realize until it was around 2:00 AM. Considering that my parents were probably asleep by then, and that businesses were closed, I decided to just crash in my friend's living room until the next morning. What ended up happening was that my dad woke up to go to work, realized I wasn't at home, and promptly freaked out. Cue the frantic phone calls- “KABOOM! WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU!?” Yeah. That was... interesting.

But anyway, that's not the point today- seems like even when I'm typing things up I can get off track. Another disadvantage to living with my parents is that they know when I'm home and will tell me to run errands for them when they don't feel like doing it. This happened a few days ago- my mother had to take my younger brother to some after-school thing (I don't know what it was, probably some sports thing, he seems to do every freaking sport the high school offers). She basically yells for me to get downstairs, and shoves some money into my hands, telling me I had to go to Wal-Mart and buy some stuff for her.

When she gets like that, it's a lot easier for everyone if you just do what she says, so I agreed, and headed out to Wal-Mart. I was wearing my MLP shirt with Pinkie Pie on it. Why am I telling you this- why does it matter what I wore to Wal-Mart?

Well, when I'd gotten all the stuff I needed and was standing in the checkout line, a little girl whose mother was ahead of me noticed my shirt and got so excited. “Mommy! Mommy! That lady knows Pinkie Pie!”” She asked me if I liked ponies too, and who my favorite pony was. It was hilarious, and really made my trip to Wal-Mart a lot more entertaining than it would have been otherwise.

Too cute!

You know what's adorable? Baby owls.

Have some baby owls.

These adorable little guys live in the UK, after being orphaned. A very nice human took them in and is caring for them until they're old enough to live on their own in the wild. Although, considering the sweet digs they have, maybe they won't want to live in the wild! I wouldn't, not if I had access to that many DVDs!

*is ded from cute*

My dad emailed me this video, and I just had to share it. How can one viral video be so freaking adorable? Oh right, it's got a mother cat hugging a baby kitten in it! That's how!

Good news, everyone!

Mr. Popper's Penguins is going to be a movie!

I loved this book when I was a Kaboomlet, and I'm thrilled they're making it into a movie. I'm not the hugest fan of Jim Carrey, but this movie looks like such good fun. As far as I can tell it deviates quite a bit from the book, but it still looks adorable. My only complaint? There were twice as many penguins in the book than there are in this trailer. But still, I'm so excited, I am going to watch the shit out of this movie.

Yes, I'm a giant dork, this has been well-established already. A giant dork that likes penguins.

Little Facebook

An Egyptian man named his baby Facebook.

He wanted to commemorate the overthrow of the oppressive regime and the role that social media played in it, so he named his baby daughter Facebook Jamal Ibrahim. At first, my reaction was along the lines of "WTFLOL!"

And then I thought about it some more, and I think it's a really cute gesture. This little girl was born during a time of serious social upheaval, and her dad wanted to mark that. And because Facebook played such an integral role in bringing about the revolution, and in many cultures naming a child after it is one of the most important ways to show respect for it. So I salute both the father and the daughter, and wish them both happy lives.

Why doesn't MY salad come with a bunny?

The salad at the dining hall is lousy, but it would be a million times better if it came with a bunny!
